About this experience

Experience four highlights of the Riviera Maya in one full-day shared tour from Cancun, created for travelers who want history, nature, local flavor, and free time in one complete route. This journey takes you from the Caribbean coastline of Tulum to the jungle-covered ruins of Cobá, then into the refreshing waters of Cenote Muul Ichi Ts'ono'ot before ending with the lively energy of Playa del Carmen’s 5th Avenue.

The day begins with pickup in Cancun and continues to Tulum, where ancient Maya temples stand above the turquoise sea. From there, travel deeper into the region toward Cobá, a powerful archaeological site surrounded by jungle, with a buffet lunch along the way to enjoy regional flavors.

After exploring the ruins, cool off in a natural cenote hidden within the limestone landscapes of the Yucatán Peninsula. To close the day, enjoy free time in Playa del Carmen, where shops, lights, music, and Caribbean town life create the perfect final stop before returning to Cancun.

Itinerary and highlights

Your experience begins with pickup at your accommodation or meeting point, where our team will welcome you before starting the journey to Tulum and Cobá. The drive to the archaeological sites takes approximately 2.5 hours.

Our initial destination is Tulum, the ancient Maya city positioned on a cliff overlooking the Mexican Caribbean sea. Your knowledgeable bilingual guide will provide intriguing insights into the archaeological site, its historical significance, and the daily life of its inhabitants during its zenith. Learn about past cultures and various theories regarding their decline during our 90-minute visit.

Following that, we'll board the bus and proceed toward Cobá, with the journey expected to take 1 hour.

Before reaching Cobá you will also enjoy a buffet lunch at a nearby restaurant. You can taste different regional dishes and traditional Mexican flavors. You will have approximately 1 hour for lunch.

Exploring the Coba Mayan ruins, mostly concealed by jungle foliage, unveils the site of the tallest pyramid in the Yucatan. Ascend to the summit for extraordinary panoramic views while your guide shares insights into the site's discovery. Marvel at the seamless integration of nature and man-made structures as the jungle intertwines with the ruins. Our visit here will last for 1 hour.

Following our exploration of Coba, our journey continues to a cenote, with an anticipated travel time of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Our next stop involves a refreshing swim at Cenote Muul Ichi Ts'ono'ot, exclusive to the Yucatan Peninsula, are natural sinkholes in limestone caves considered sacred by the ancient Maya people. Following the cenote experience, indulge in an authentic regional lunch buffet for a revitalizing break.

Afterward, our journey continues to the Playa del Carmen, with an estimated travel time of 45 minutes.

Our next destination is the Playa del Carmen 5th Avenue, where you'll have 45 minutes to immerse yourself in its vibrant atmosphere, filled with nightlife and diverse stores. It's the ideal spot for dinner and shopping.

After your time in Playa del Carmen comes to an end, the guide will let the group know where and when to meet before boarding the bus again. Once all travelers have returned, we will begin the ride back toward Cancun and the Riviera Maya.

The journey back takes around 2 hours, making it a good moment to rest after a full day of exploring. Settle into the vehicle, relax, and enjoy the return ride as the experience comes to a close.

  • Public transportation options are available nearby
  • Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • Important notice: This tour has been designed for guests staying in Cancun, Costa Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, and nearby areas in the northern part of Quintana Roo (as specified). If you are staying in Playa del Carmen, the Riviera Maya, or Tulum, which are located farther south, you may still book the experience. However, in that case, the Playa del Carmen stop cannot be included. This is because Playa del Carmen is the final visit of the itinerary before the tour returns to the northern area of the state. For travelers staying in the southern area, the transportation route must be handled differently and separately. For this reason, bookings from Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, or Tulum will follow a modified itinerary that includes Tulum, Cobá, the cenote, and lunch, without the Playa del Carmen visit. By booking from the southern area of Quintana Roo, you acknowledge and accept this route adjustment. You also understand that the omission of the Playa del Carmen stop does not qualify for compensation, partial refund, full refund, or any other type of reimbursement.
  • Luggage may only be accepted if the assigned vehicle has available space and our team approves it beforehand. If you plan to travel with luggage, please check with us before the service so we can review the transportation assigned to your booking and let you know whether it can be accommodated. Please keep in mind that space cannot be promised in advance, and approval is not automatic.

  • During each stop, access to the transportation vehicle is only allowed at the official boarding time indicated by the guide or staff. Guests may not enter the vehicle early or stay inside while the rest of the group is away, since other travelers may have left personal items stored there during the visit.
